Di samping itu perjuangan septy untuk melanjutkan S2 tak semudah orang pada umumnya. Ia adalah anak seorang petani asal Dusun Glagah Ombo, desa nampan, kecamatan sukorejo, kabupaten ponorogo, jawa timur. Untuk meraih S2 ia harus berjuang mencar beasiswa. Meski berasal dari keluarga sederhana, tapi impian septy ingin menempuh pendidikan setinggi-tingginya. Beruntung, kemauan septy selalu didukung oleh keluarga.

Orang tua saya selalu bilang tidak apa-apa orang tuanya cuma lulusan SMP dan SD yang penting anaknya bisa sukses, Ungkapnya dikutip dari laman FEB UGM. Tak hanya kuliah, septy pun berkerja paruh waktu di pusat kajian akutansi pendidikan (PKAP).
